If you and your family are ready to see some great Christmas light displays in and around Phoenix, we have the list just for you.

***Due to Covid-19, some of these Christmas lights might be restricted or limited in their offerings. It is recommended to investigate which activities might be currently open or entertaining guests. This is also a good time to create a list for future, less pandemic infested times.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

For families that love train rides and lights, the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale proudly presents Holiday Lights every year. You can witness an amazing display of holiday lights set along a beautiful park while riding aboard a steam engine. Enjoy a beautiful winter wonderland, a hot cup of cocoa at Hartley’s General Store, a spin on the Charros Carousel, or a ride through the magnificent lights onboard the steam engine.

This event is great because there is no entrance fee. However, there is a nominal fee for rides on the train and carousel. There will be limited capacity, so make sure to sign up early. The good news is that this means less waiting in line for the big rides.

World of Illumination

For a natural way to stay socially distanced from others, World of Illumination allows you to drive through their holiday display. Stay put in the comfort of your car as your family stares in awe of the production. Turn up the radio and get ready to hear beautiful music as the lights dance and dazzle.

With locations in Glendale and Tempe, this Christmas light display is truly spectacular. It is deemed the world’s largest animated drive-through holiday light show and it is right here in the Phoenix valley.

If after the show you want to get out and stretch your legs and let the kids run loose, there is a shopping area and marketplace to eat, play and visit with Santa.

Glendale Glitters

Each year, Glendale lights it up. The City of Glendale is not shy about lighting up the downtown area with over 1.6 million LED lights as it takes over 16 blocks. It is a magical display of holiday cheer and brilliance. Admission is free. Check the website for updated events and changes to this year’s program.

Zoolights

For a wild and exciting display of lights, hit up the tradition at the Phoenix Zoo for Zoolights. This year, you can opt to choose the Cruise Zoolights night (staying in the comfort of your car) or the walkthrough option. Along with the amazing lights, you will also get glimpses of all the wildlife in this magical atmosphere. Additionally, be sure not to miss the reindeer, Polar Slide, and a Wildlife Lantern Safari that features more than 60 species of wildlife all aglow.

Festival of Lights Ahwatukee

Located in the Desert Foothills Park, the Festival of Lights in Ahwatukee is definitely the place for lights! The Million White Lights illuminate Chandler Blvd and make every tree and cactus sparkle and shine. The display runs through early January, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the dazzling display.

Christmas at the Princess

Each year the Princess gears up to offer a magical and joyous Christmas event. You can hitch a ride on the Princess Express Train and enjoy over 4.5 million LED lights through the majestic lagoons. Additionally, guests can enjoy S’mores Land, Frosty’s Ferris Wheel, Polar Glide Ice Slide, Enchanted Plaza Experience, and a narrated Nativity Garden show. Things might be a little more reimagined this year for safety, but the event will continue forward.

Las Noches Luminarias

The Desert Botanical Gardens is host to the beautiful Las Noches Luminarias event. The experience includes trails that light up with pre-recorded music dancing in your ears along the way. The desert will light up like nowhere else in the valley and festive drinks will be available for purchase. This experience is truly unique and fun for the whole family.

Boat Parade

This year, the great Boat Parade has been canceled. However, you can still add it to your list of holiday events with spectacular lights for your enjoyment next year. This event typically takes place on Tempe Town Lake. They are host to not only a great boat parade of lights, but they offer food vendors, a holiday marketplace, selfies with Santa, and live entertainment.

The Valley is packed with holiday lights for families of all sizes and interests. Whether it is a single event or dazzling lights lasting through the New Year, there’s something happening at every corner of The Valley.
